In yet another instance of Second Life repeating the history of the Internet in miniature form, I just got a small paperback in the mail, and it's a colorful and fun companion to the Official Guide and other Second Life manuals coming out recently in droves: The Second Life Travel Guide by Sean Voss (RL author info here) is bursting full of a 100+ recommended locations in many categories, quite a few I hadn't heard of until reading it, described with annotated screenshots like they were real travel destinations. I say "repeating history", because it's bound to remind you of those paperback Internet location directories that came out in the late 90s, back before Google. (Sean acknowledges as much in the introduction, noting "[W]e are still waiting for that great source of Second Life destinations.") This book it's a good start, though of course, hundreds of other sites remain to be listed and documented. The book's web-based reference site, by the way is right here.
