Our community manager Kat has been chomping at the bit to interview me. So the other day I finally let her, here is the result. Enjoy.

A Few Words with Neil Patel

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Tonight we had a Docstoc dinner at Benihana’s with special guest Neil Patel. You may remember him from such Internet memes as “The Jason Calacanis SEO Challenge“. Neil has had some interesting experiences in his short but successful career. Unfortunately for you, we talked about most of the juicy stuff off camera. I did however manage to ask him a few questions in the valet line. Enjoy.

Introducing B

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

At Docstoc we have a few interns, they do all kinds of dirty work for us with minimal complaining. When they aren’t doing one their many tasks, they have to deal with me jamming a camera in their face. In this episode we meet one them, B.

I was pretty excited to find someone who could actually watch, and even enjoy The Hills TV show. So I asked her a few questions to help understand the allure. Enjoy.

Want a Ticket to Twiist Up?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

My sources are telling me the waiting list is 500 deep for the Twiistup event on Thursday. As is, the event is maybe even just a wittttle bit over booked. Needless to say, this is going to be *the* tech event of the summer. Here is whats going down:

  • Steve Wiebe himself, yes the King of Kong guy is going for the record live.
  • Some great new startups are showing off their goods.
  • Finally, you can be like Steve Jobs and walk on water.

So if you are without tickets, don’t fret. Over at Docstoc we just happen to have 2 tickets available. Here is how you can get themfrom the docstoc blog.

—————————————————-

Twiistup 4 is being held this Thursday July 17th at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, California. The event is sold out with 650 people attending, and a waiting list of over 500 folks from what we hear. BUT, we have two extra tickets and we’re giving you the opportunity to win them in our Twiistup Ticket Contest.

Twiistup Ticket Contest Overview

Docstoc has 2 extra tickets to this week’s Twiistup Event. To enter the contest and have the opportunity to win one of the two give-away tickets simply start uploading documents to docstoc. The deadline is Wednesday July 16th at 11:59pm.

Congratulation Letters

Friday, June 27th, 2008

For those who haven’t seen Docstoc in action, below is an example of a document embed. In this case, a  congratulation letter that can be used when a business acquaintance receives a promotion.

No matter what software created the document, the viewer only needs to have flash installed to see it. Right below the embed is a direct link to Docstoc, here you can download the source file as well.

We have a few more embeddable widgets on the way as well. Let me know if you have any ideas on how this can be improved.

Leaving Mahalo

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Today is going to be my last day with Mahalo.com. The last 8 months here have been an amazing experience for me. Truly unique and rewarding on so many levels. Leaving it behind has been a very tough decision for me. Big thanks to Jason and C.K. for giving me a chance and some footing in this crazy industry. Huge respect and gratitude to the Mahalo staff, both in-house and the many remote guides. There is no shortage of great ideas and people here; I’m certainly going to miss it all.

So what’s next? Well I’m going over to Docstoc, an online document sharing website. I’ll be heading up their content and SMO/SEO efforts. They recently received a nice round of funding and are posed to break out. There are going to be some huge challenges at the new gig, I can’t wait to get started.

More details to follow when I get a chance.

Mahalo!
