During the last few weeks before the sale of Myspace, I gave my team a side project designed to provide a much needed morale boost. I challenged them to create a funny video about saving Myspace. I didn’t give a ton of direction other than to make it funny and make it with no budget.
Thankfully I had some team members like Charles Hollins (who produced projects like theangryklown.com and fivephotographs.com) and Kat Ahn who does local standup comedy in addition to appearing on The Office.
The two of them, along with the rest of my former team, created something that we hope will appeal to our old co-workers, veteran users of Myspace, and anyone who follows the social networking space. It’s a parody of a Myspace marketing meeting where we go through some crazy ideas to save this iconic Internet property. It also touches on something we were never able to accomplish there. To essentially “own the joke” about Myspace and have some fun with it.
I’m not about having regrets but I wish we could of better owned that joke and perhaps used that momentum to tell a new story. I’m sure I speak on behalf of my team when I say that working for Myspace was a tough but great experience. So please enjoy our little video and best of luck to the new owners and our remaining colleagues there.

Great video, and good on you for taking this approach. We need more of this kind of thing online, and less egos :)

Bravo, Bravo… Take a bow.. I love the video and think that you and your team did a fantastic job. If not, the new buyers would not be involved.
You should really be proud of your accomplishments. On to the next brilliant milestone. You have lots to give with your brilliant talent. All the best in future endeavors.

My spouse and i ended up being thrilled Edward managed to finish up his homework from your precious recommendations he acquired from your very own blog. It’s not at all simplistic just to happen to be making a gift of tactics which often other folks could have been selling. And now we grasp we have got you to thank because of that. Most of the illustrations you’ve made, the easy site menu, the friendships you can aid to instill – it is mostly overwhelming, and it’s really helping our son and us recognize that that theme is excellent, which is unbelievably fundamental. Thanks for the whole thing!
