I believe, the way the other 70% of this country believes, that marriage should be between one man, one woman.Why is it that the press does not stand up for the 70% that believe this way? The first amendment of our constitution gives us the right to freedom of press, religion AND speech. She was very discreet. She precluded her statement by saying that she’s glad she lives in a country where you are free to choose your own lifestyle. AND she doesn’t condemn anyone for their beliefs, but SHE was raised to believe such and such. If Hilton didn’t want the question answered, he shouldn’t have asked it. I agree with KCOM above– someone’s disagreeing with your views doesn’t make them a dimwit. It makes them disagree with your views, that’s all. Thank God for her intelligent way of answering, which was not blundering or tongue twisted. She was very articulate. Go Carrie!!

As Miss California stated, we are very blessed to live in a country that protects our right to freedom of speech, whether we’re human or queer. If Perez Hilton did not want to hear an answer such as the one received, why did he ask it? If he truly did not want to know what humans think of queers with large assholes, why did he introduce the topic? To liberal queer-loving idiots everywhere: Whatever happened to standing on your principles? Did that die with JFK, along with love for your country? This country was founded and built upon the backs of people like Carrie and yet she ends up as Miss USA Runner Up? Are you kidding me? She was a clear winner until the questions and was derailed by a political agenda. So much for change in this country.
Don’t ask – don’t tell was a step in the right direction and I absolutely salute ALL gays/lesbians in the military (thank you!). I would support open sexual orientation too, so I think I’m for progress in terms of gay rights.
Now, while I’ve been a big supporter of the gay community, the way Prop 8 in CA, and now this issue, have been handled has clearly demonstrated a problem in the community that has me second guessing….

The verse you refer to actually reads “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination” (New American Standard Version). It’s found in Leviticus. In the Old Testament. Written by Moses. More than 1,200 years BEFORE the birth of Christ.
Yes, yes, I know that Jesus is God the Son. Yes, yes, I know how the Bible was written under “divine” inspiration (even though no one ever really agrees on what, precisely, that means). But the words of Jesus that I referred to (the ones found between Mt 1:1 and Jn 21:25) say not a word about homosexuality. Lots of stuff about white-washed tombs full of dead men’s bones, and praying for public approval and such, but nothing about two men doin’ the nasty together. Now why is that, I wonder?
I mean, Jesus speaks about a woman who’s been married five times and is shacking up with a sixth. And a woman who was taken in adultery, “in the very act”. And he condemns remarriage after divorce, calling it adultery. So He didn’t shy away from the subject of sexual relations. But He somehow never mentions a word about uhhh THAT.
So perhaps you can explain how, precisely, my actually knowing what the Bible actually says, makes me guilty of “reading some communist propaganda material” or “speaking … obvious filth”? How, precisely, does my calling Prejean a hypocrite for putting her body on display, support homosexuality? And what, precisely, is so filthy about my observation?
All I’m saying is that if the oh-so-Christian Ms Prejean needs to pose for explicit, lust-inducing photos to make it as a model or an actress, perhaps she needs to find a different line of work. Or else to stop using her “Christianity” as a pretext for denying homosexuals equal marriage rights. I am delighted that Prop 8 was overturned. So i am far from gay. Although I’m friends with those who are. I merely really don’t see exactly what the big problem is about gay people getting the identical rights we have.
