Sounds like a crazy shooting went down in Oakland today, leaving 4 officers in critical condition.

I worked there for four years. Yes, they are similar to LA cops in bothering you over nothing, but they did not deserve this. It is time to get the criminals off our streets. I witnessed four muggings in front of my house in Fruitvale in daylight. The brazen criminals in Compton, Inglewood and Oakland do not deserve parole, ever. I want to express my deepest sympathy to everyone involved in this incredible tragedy. I have worked with parolee’s for many years, trying to find housing, jobs and recovery programs for them. They learn nothing but how to be institutionalized and get into the revolving door in the prison system. The more time in prison the harder it gets to believe there are any other choices. Prison does nothing but house people. In some prisons the inmate doesn’t see the sun but for an hour once a week. There are few programs that help an inmate learn life skills, so he is basically the same person or worse when he gets out, usually going right back to what he/she knows best.
The young man who murdered the 4 cops committed a horrible act, an act of desperation. He has ruined the lives of the police officer’s families, but also has ruined the lives of his family. It is so sad that we put the burden of controlling out of control people entirely into the hands of our law enforcement when so much more could be done by the criminal justice system when we have a “captive audience” in the system already.
Instead of building more prisons, let’s work with these men and women in the system to help them become productive citizens. Because, if you think the somehow they are different than you and me, you are sadly mistaken. They just took a wrong turn.
Having said that, I want to make it perfectly clear that there are at least 20% of the people in prison who belong there, they are a danger and a menace to society. Sadly, I don’t think this kid was one of the 20%, I think that we failed him in some way and that is truly a shame.

One thing that could be done is to begin treating violence as a form of mental illness. That would require a fundamental change in how we treat violent offenders in institutions. As a “captive audience” the change could be significant. Prison has never really been a successful way to deal with the problem of crime.

While it is definitely a sad event that happened and my heart goes out the families I think that there are many bigger issues that are surfacing within the streets of Oakland that now need to be addressed. Not to make light of what happened, but I think what needs to be addressed at this time is where did this rage and frustration come from? The views and opinions of inner city, and people from the surrounding area vary in their feelings behind the shooting.
While many of the general popultion of Oakland may see this as a tragic loss of OPD’s finest. It is also a fact that there is a fair amount of people who look at Mixon as some sort of a martyr. Especially in retrospect to the senseless shooting of Oscar Grant January 1, 2009. In addition there are those who actually empathize with Mixon. ot to say that in any way his actions were justifiable, but it frustration to some is definitely something that many of the inner city can relate to. While it has been noted that this is the first of its kind in Oaklnds history can we actually say that it will be the last. How many others are out there in the same or similiar situations? And where do they channel this anger and frustration so that something like this doesnt happen. Oaklnd is not the first city where someone has resorted to violence as a result of a system failing them. While there are opportunities in the inner city it is factual that they are less prevalent. There are so many questions that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to a case like this.
As a resident of Oakland I see and feel the frustration of the people in my neighborhood. Many will agree that there is now a war going on between the police and the community. The police has lost the trust of the community. The youth in the community have no where to turn and doors are being closed in their faces. Their possibilities seem no longer endless, resorting to a life of crime. Again I am not advocating or sympathizing with the acts but this is a realization. We must not just crack down on the and the drugs in the inner cities but we must also crack down on the lack of opportunity. There is such a hatred for the police that I heard this weekend a young man who could have been no more that 17 say ” Considering what happened to Oscar Grant, they got two of ours so we got four of theirs.” Another young man stated ” Maybe the police will stop fu$#!ng with us now.” This is the mentality of many of the youth. I think until we fix these problems this is just a tip of the iceberg of what is to come. Tensions are high on both sides of the fence. There is no one to go to tral. So who will the folks on the other side of fence point their finger at and what type of retaliation will they put on the other. I pray for the families of the lost, but even more I pray for the families of the ones who have to go back out into the streets of Oakland whether law enforcement or civilian. It is obvious that no one feels safe. I also pray for my brothers and sisters of hood and hope that they try to find a better way, cause this aint it.

You guys are soooo funny. No one want to address the root of the problem, and this ain’t rocket science. 70-80% of black kids are born out of wedlock and grow up in poverty without a father. How do we fix this in our “free” country where young black women are permitted to have as many babies as their little hearts desire? What about black men that can procreate and take no responsibility for their children? Until you change the hearts and minds of this reproductive criminal mill the problems will continue and only get worse.
All of you bleeding heart socialists can perhaps offer some practical solutions? How do we prevent good and pure children from growing up to be cop-killers?

My point is that until someone has the stones to address the root cause of the problem, it will only get worse. Can you offer a solution to 70-80% black children being fatherless? OK first off, to the “We need gun control” guy. You have obviously never thought about what gun control does and does NOT do. Clearly you are un aware that the Russian made Military rifle the Kalashnikov AK-47 AKM Assault Rifle with a 30 round clip that Mr. Lovelle was packing and executing anyone in a blue uniform, IS ILLEGAL!!!!! Did that stop the career criminal from obtaining and using the firearm for exactly what it was intended to do?????? Well did it huh did it………???? NOPE it sure didn’t. It did not matter what law was passed for Lovelle to have that gun. Do you really think he ever thought, oh I better not use THAT gun, it’s illegal. He probablly knew that the round the AK-47 shoots goes right through any and every bullet proof vest as if it were not there. That 7.62×39MM round isn’t even slowed down by a vest. That is just it, they are called criminals because they DON’T follow the laws, they could give a sh-t less about laws. On the other hand folks that do obey and respect laws for fear of being a criminal, actually do follow the laws. So I am not going to try and illegally obtain an AK-47, why, oh that would be because I am not a criminal and do not want to spend any time in a prison, cause I have a job!! So now explain to me why we need more gun control laws, to keep the guns out of criminal hands…….that does not work, it only keeps them out of hands of people who don’t break the laws.
Now for those of you who worked in Oakland for a few years, you do not know what the OPD is all about. I on the other hand was born and raised in Oakland and spent 22 years there. The OPD is the most leinent force of any city other that SFPD in the Bay Area. You know why, because there is way bigger fish to fry in Oakland than the petty thefts and property thefts that they just simply don’t have time for. You can run red lights right in front of cops in Oakland they really don’t care, I have seen more sh-t go down right in front of cops that in Danville or Piedmont or San Leandro someone would have been getting a citation. OPD has seen it all.
Mr. Kimball has it absolutley correct, the problems with the blacks begins and ends in the home. The black men do not give a sh-t about the kids they father. So the little boys they help create grow up to be just like them and the little girls they leave behind for the mommy to raise that also had no father raises a kid with no respect for anyone and the cycle continues. They (yes they = blacks) have a very flawed culture. How often do you see a Japanese group walking down the street and you get a little scared or if you see a European clan do you experience any fear? RAISE YOUR GOD DAMN KIDS WITH REPECT AND MORALS AND WE HAVE NO MORE PROBLEM SPARKLING WIGGLES!

I love the liberal responses I have read above. How easy it is to blame the system and say that it failed Mixon. He was a violent felon, rapist, who decided he was too lazy to go to his meeting with his parole officer. And because he missed his meeting he knew he was going to go back to prison, as he should. Its called being a responsible adult and a good person people. People need to take responsibility for their actions and we don’t see a lot of that these days. Mixon put himself in this position, not the government, and decided to kill 4 good police officers rather than go to prison. He made a clear, conscious, calculated decision to kill those that protect us. Don’t say he wasn’t violent. Don’t say the system failed him. He is nothing more than a domestic terrorist who didn’t care about laws, this country, or those who keep it safe. I think we need to stop wasting time talking about the pile of fecies that Mixon was and focus on the real issues in America.

Leaving the child to be raised by it’s mother and/or grandmother. I have never seen a culture in which the children are unimportant. My prayers are with the families of the slain officers. Those are four less men on the street who risk their lives to protect us; decent law-abiding citizens. I am a black woman; married with three children who all have the same Dad. Right is right and wrong is wrong. The shooting by the BART officer was wrong. No question about it. The killing of the cops by the murderous Mixen was wrong. He went nuts because he didn’t want to go back to jail. I work at a jail where we do all the drug programs, Violence programs, victims impact and all that @#$%! It does not work! These freaking people mouth the words; say what they need to get out and go right back to it! We set them up with outside help and even job assistance. They do not want help they want drugs, easy money to hurt other people and be in their little gangs. This dirt bag was in our jail and I see a hundred more like him every day ready to pop off. This man was a murderer, a rapist and a pile of dung. I have been threatened at my job for doing my job by these people; they say they will kill me and my family if they see me on the street. I document this and let them know if they try this I will do my duty and stop any threat to the public welfare including my families.
The biggest racist in the world now are those screaming racism and wanting everything for free, they hurt other just because of their selfish racist pathetic needs. I will be at the officer’s funerals Friday paying my respects to these brave men and standing as guard for their grieving families whom no one can ever repay.

These police officers were there to protect. Even the Child raping, drug dealing, gun toting s.h.p.o.s.e. parolee that gunned them down. This man was no hero, he was an animal that deserved to be put down. He raped a 12 year old child. That alone should have gotten him executed. Instead of being a man, and not a coward, he should have taken responsiblity for his actions. His drug dealing sister had the nerve to call him a good person, loving and compassionate, she needed to be beside her coward of a brother in the closet. I would definitely support a police crack down to nail the rest of the drug dealing, parole violating, child raping, gun packin low life scum out of east oakland. Trust me, your neighborhood is much better off without this vermin. To those of you who commend what he did, well I am sure you would have the same potential for violence as this animal did. Get out of oakland or get with the program. After all it is your friends and neighbors that protect and feed these animals addiction and profiteering through drugs and theft. Why did a trained SWAT Team enter a building not knowing the man had a AK automatic weapon, in what room he was in and knowing he had just killed two officers? Maybe they felt they were just on another routine mission to kill another nigger.

It is sad that the police officers had to die on line of duty. As a society we now tend to emphasize punishment for criminal activities over rehabilitation. The two should be used together to reform people who engage in criminal activity. Otherwise we will stay in a vicious cycle, in which people commit crimes, go to jail and do not learn a trade, get out and be discriminated by employers, build up frustration and resentment and them commit heinous crimes.

My point is maybe the emphasize punishment went to far. That man clearly selected death with the killing of the two officers. There had to be a moment of pause for the police. I will take a strech and say hate clouded judgment. Police are not hired to hate. They protect and serve. I could be wrong but the last two officers did not have to die in the line of duty. They went into the situation as an active shooter call so he would not take hostages or kill any one else. The first 2 officers were killed with a hand gun their body armor will stop these rounds. They did not suspect he had an AK as a felon he should not of had any gun.

Sheepdog, I spent 15 years working in a trama center, Miami Florida. I was escorted home during the McDuffy riots by to Metro Poilce cars that were filled with bullet holes. I have seen the worst of humanity. I feel your pain, there are a lot brave police officers out there that do a great job, but I have seen the dark side on the Federal level, its not pretty. May God always keep you safe and thanks for service to our society.

Its amazing to me how a discussion about the murder of four Oakland police officers can devolve into a discussion of black versus white. I am tired of people saying that the police are racist and profile individuals, that the police are out to get minorities. They are not out to get minorities, the fact is that minorities commit the majority of crimes in the city of Oakland, additionally minorities are the MAJORITY in the city of OAKLAND.
To all you ignorant people out there if you didn’t notice the police are not one race, like our country they are a melting pot of all races. As a life long resident of the bay area I have never felt ashamed of my home or its residents until now. I am ashamed not because these officers were murdered in cold blood without remorse or regret. No, I am ashamed for the reaction of my fellow residents, people taunting the officers while their brothers were being killed, to mock them on the news claiming that the officers deserved it. The only person who got what they deserved was Lovelle Mixion, he was a rapist and a felon.
For idiots like Shawny by speaking your mind all you do is prove that you lack one. What people like you fail to realize is that the police are here for us to protect us. Shawny you know what I think…… I think your a fool, I think you watch too many movies and live in some alternate reality. Who are you going to call when your family is harmed, who are you going to call when your home is broken into? Although I think I know the answer already, could it be your gang banging homies so they can go out and kill someone because they disrespected you.
Shawny you are a perfect example of what is wrong with this country you admire and respect a felon/rapist and you revere him as a “beloved American brother.” Mixon was a waste of space and the world is a better place without him.
Getting back to the issue at hand though, the police are not racist (were not two of the last three police chiefs black) and they are definitely not terrorists. When the questions are posed are police perfect, no they are not, are they all good people maybe not but to argue that Daniel Sakai, Ervin Romans, John Hege and Mark Dunakin deserved to die because they served and protected dirt bags like Mixon is pure lunacy.
In closing I would just like to say I am proud to be a public servant and I am proud to work side by side with the police officers of our great nation. I am glad to know you all and I am better for it. In the words of my fore fathers Daniel, Ervin, John, and Mark may the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand………God Bless.

Well said Firemedic, there are a lot of great police officers out there; I also have worked side by side with them. I also think People like Shawny are lost souls but lets not lose sight of history, there are hundreds of thousands of young black men and women incarcerated in this country for non violent drug offenses, much of which was supplied by our good friend Oliver North. In 1986 Joe Biden and his buddies came up with a solution for the crack cocaine problem. “Minimum Mandatory Sentences” in a meeting before the bill was sponsored by this great white supremacist Joe Biden, he was advised that this would not work. But pressure from Federal Prosecutors and DEA agents swayed him into keeping them in place. Black people in this country have a right to be pissed off, but there barking up the wrong tree. Those 4 police officers were killed by the corrupt criminal justice system that allowed this piece of garbage back out on the street. Stay safe Firemedic we need guys out there like you.

My apologies people i forgot to mention something that enraged me,…….for the people who think all police have their best interest in mind listen to this story that happened just a few days ago.A black man was informed that his grandmother was on her dying bed and had only moments to live.By the way this guy play professional football named moats,he rushed his wife and family to the hospital with emergency lights on,running lights and stop signs but with caution.This dumb @ss cop gets behind him follows all the way to hospital moats explained to the officer the situation and attempted to in the hospital to be by his grandmother side the cop pulls his gun on him ordering him to stop.The rest of the family managed to get inside.The cop started lecturing him stating i can make life a whole lot worse right now,i can sight you for attempted to elude the police…..all this while his grandmother is slipping away.Moats just give me a ticket later i gotta go officer still would not let him leave,even after a doctor and a nurse comes out to confirm his story………the officer just said Ill be through in a minute then he can go.When everything was said and done his grandmother died before he got to see her,whats sad there are police like this all over the country and most of them are corrupted to some degree.So when naive morons do little more research before you speak blindly you will see that there are scenarios like this happening every day and lot of stories don’t make it to the news stations.People we must stick together in this upcoming war if we are to survive,this is a perfect example on how the law and justice are separate…………WAKE UP!!!

I think many of you who are responding are not understanding the point here. The point is that this is not a black/white issue. It’s an issue of a violent person who decided to not take responsibility for his actions and then kill four police officers in order to avoid going to prison again. Mixon is a violent felon who wasn’t forced to commit robbery and become a felon. He made that choice on his own. He then made the decision to rape a young female and also miss an apointment with his parole officer. he knew by doing so he was going to go back to prison for these actions.
Mixon later happened to get pulled over, more than likely for doing like he appears to have always done and not obey the law. While stopped he called family and made comments about not going back to prison. Mixon then knowingly shot and killed two police officers rather than face his punishment. He then ran and hid and later shot and killed two more officers.
Mixon is not a hero, nor will he ever be. There will not be any holidays for Mixon, no parades and no books written about him. Heroes do heroic things, which Mixon did not. He was a cowardly, cold, violent felon who is lucky he was killed. So now, like always, he doesn’t have to face reality. Or get a job, take care of his kids, or ever pay taxes. This world is a better place without him.
For those of you who hate the police and government, nobody wants you here in this great country. So get up off your lazy ass, quit smoking weed every day and get a job. Pay taxes and be productive. Its that simple. If you have no desire to do that then you should seriously think about leaving the USA. We have no use for you!!

Message to Certain Blacks in Oakland: I’m Tired of Your Lame Excuses

Yes, that’s right. You love your blackness more than you love common sense, sometimes even more than your own people. Must I sue for divorce from the Black community on the grounds of mental cruelty?
I’m black. I grew up in Chicago, the most segregated city in the North. I’m from “da hood” too. There was a time I experienced racism every day for 4 years there. So I know what racism is about.
But yet, you scream, yell and protest because of a CRIMINAL who murdered four cops. They did not shoot him first. He shot them first. Is that an act of Black bravery, qualifying for the El Hajj Malik Shabazz (Malcolm X) Peace Prize? Is a hero now? (Remember Malcolm had to protect his family, not from white folks, not from cops, but from his own people who eventually killed him.)
You all claim you are like Palestinians in Gaza, in an “occupied territory” as if you are shut in a “prison” with nowhere to go. You are the occupiers. Who took you from Africa and put you in Oakland? Who is keeping you in slavery there? If you don’t like the “oppression,” you should do what you can to leave if you were serious. You are in a prison with unlocked jail cells. You are free to go anywhere, even to Africa, the Motherland, if you wanted to. I don’t hear about oppression in San Francisco. I don’t even hear about oppression in Los Angeles. Even blacks in Chicago don’t scream about oppression as you are doing as bad as things are there.

Your guy Mixon shot the cops, not even in self-defense. He pulled the trigger first, killing those four cops doing their jobs, and that makes him a Black hero, right? They did not shoot him until he had to be killed because he was killing others. This is what the Los Angeles Times says:
“In October 2007, Lovelle Mixon was released on parole after serving five years of a six-year sentence for assault with a firearm. Within months the 26-year-old Oakland resident was in trouble again, authorities said.
“In February, Mixon was placed on a parole hold as a possible suspect in a homicide in Alameda County, according to Scott Kernan, undersecretary of operations for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Prosecutors declined to file charges in that case, saying there was not sufficient evidence, but Mixon was detained on various parole violations and sent back to prison for nine months, Kernan said.
“Here is a look at Mixon’s interactions with the parole department since his Nov. 1 release from the California Correctional Center in Susanville, as reported by the department :
“Nov. 3: Mixon reports to his parole agent for an initial interview and undergoes his first mandatory drug test.
“Nov. 5: Mixon reports to Parole and Community Team, a state program that offers a broad range of services to parolees. The agency provides job placement, drug treatment and other services. During the visit, he met with his parole agent and again was tested for drugs.
“Nov. 7: Mixon’s parole agent makes an initial residential visit, meeting with Mixon at his mother’s home in Oakland. The agent also met with relatives of Mixon to evaluate his living conditions and who he was interacting with while on parole. “Dec. 19: Mixon reports to the parole office and takes a drug test.

“Jan. 23: Mixon’s parole agent makes a residential visit and refers Mixon to another employment service, Project Choice Employment.
“Feb. 6: Mixon reports to the parole office and takes a drug test.
“Feb. 18: Mixon’s parole agent makes a residential visit but cannot locate him.
“Feb. 24: Mixon’s parole agent makes another residential visit but Mixon cannot be located. The agent talks with his mother.
“Feb. 26: After another residential visit, the agent still cannot locate Mixon.
“Feb. 27: The parole agent prepares a parolee-at-large report and a warrant is issued for Mixon’s arrest. The state Board of Parole Hearings suspends Mixon’s parole effective Feb. 19, the day after his parole officer first failed to find him. The case is referred to the corrections department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.
“March 6: The Fugitive Apprehension Team and members of the Oakland Police Department visit three Oakland addresses, including Mixon’s mother’s home, his address of record. The following week, they distribute a bulletin to the Oakland Police Department. The case is also referred to the U.S. Marshals Service to check on reports that Mixon might have been in the Auburn, Wash., area. They are unable to locate him.
“March 21: Mixon is pulled over by Oakland motorcycle officers for a traffic violation shortly after 1 p.m. Authorities said he began shooting at the officers, killing Sgt. Mark Dunakin, 40, and fatally wounding Officer John Hege, 41. After trying to hide in a nearby apartment building where his sister lives, Mixon kills Oakland SWAT sergeants Ervin Romans, 43, and Daniel Sakai, 35, before he is shot and killed by police.”

I could understand anger if he was shot by a cop for no reason. I could understand if he was not threatening anyone. But this man was a convicted felon on parole (assault with a handgun). He shot the cops first. Get a clue, please. Why do you all want to celebrate a criminal? I remember the good old days when we would celebrate people like Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglass, Adam Clayton Powell and Martin Luther King, Jr. But we black people have evolved. We are more enlightened now. We have to celebrate our criminal element too, especially our cop-killas. Al Sharpton and the NAACP did that last year for black thugs who tortured, sexually assaulted, and robbed a BLACK woman in Florida. They had no pity for the victim, just for the thugs who tortured her. Are you giving the whole world the impression that blacks seem to care more about criminals than law-abiding people. This is my “I’m-embarrassed-to-be-Black” moment. I understand there a “Stop Snitching” campaign in Oakland? Why? Is it a black thing and I don’t understand? When blacks do crap to other blacks, don’t tell the police, right? We have to protect our beloved criminals, right. It is the law-abiding black citizens, especially senior citizens, who live in terror of the black criminals who should go to hell right? It is your own black neighbors who live in oppression because of black thugs, not because of cops.
Why is it we do in each other in when we celebrate our own criminals?

“Hi, Robert. This makes me sick to my stomach. I seriously need to plan to move from these United States of America. Some blacks are idiots, and they make me ashamed of my race with this madness. I feel for all the families involved. But he shot the cops first so they were just protecting themselves from this dangerous criminal. What is wrong with black people? He was a criminal not an advocate of any community. Black people wake up please before it’s too late.”
The black editor of the Oakland Tribune Chauncey Bailey was shot dead by a Black Muslim in 2007 in broad daylight. How many of these blacks of you marched and protested that? Were you all demanding justice? Were you all outraged when one of your own gunned down one of your own? Those who knew Bailey were outraged. I did not see outrage from you. I understand “Stop Snitching” was going on there in Oakland about that murder. Again, it is your own black neighbors who live in oppression because of black thugs, not because of cops. Or did you decide it was not really a tragedy since a white man or a cop did not shoot Bailey?
He was down for your community. Were you down for him? Bailey was a strong advocate for the black community, even for those same people who are celebrating Mixon. Yet the outrage in the black community in Oakland was very little. Mixon was not an advocate for the black community at all, a convicted criminal and murderer, and people march and protest and this criminal gets celebrated. He is a role model for all young Black children in Oakland right?
Rev. Walter Hoye, a black minister in Oakland went to jail because he was telling women, including black women, that there was an alternative to abortion. Were any of you outraged over the brother being a “victim” of the white racist justice system? How many of you were protesting with signs ‘FREE REV. HOYE!”?
Is not something wrong with that picture? Keep your lame excuses because they won’t fly, even out of Oakland International Airport.

Shawny and EVERY other damaged damned soul like him/her who claims this dead MONSTER Lovelle Mixion is a “hero” need to be FIXED. Because only a disturbed animal would make such a disgusting statement.
What really needs to happen is, the next time one of these savages runs amok in one of Oaklands many thug infested “communities”, the cops need to take their SWEET time responding. Or, better yet, don’t respond at all.
Let the “community” members work things out themselves with the “brothas”.
My condolences go out to the innoncent BRAVE men who lost their lives at the hands of this monster.
These thugs need to be fixed upon entering the penial system. That way, they could stop spawning future generations of thugs.

The reason the police stopped Mr. Mixon was his failure to be where he was supposed to be in accordance with his parole.
Some of the talk radio voices are saying he was suspected of raping a young girl, but that is unproven and a non-factor.
ANYONE that is in violation of parole can be legally pulled over…not harrassed…not profiled…completely legally pulled over and checked. Now when this guy starts shooting people doing their jobs, then this is no longer a race issue. This is a good guy v. bad guy issue.
Anyone screaming that the police were out of line should go visit the families of the slain heroes. Anyone thinking a gun ban should come of this is an even bigger idiot. Mr. Mixon is dead because he chose to not live by the laws that majority of people follow every day.
RIP to the four officers. God bless to the families and friends of these heroes that died protecting us from the scum of the earth.

I just went to the funeral of my classmate that was killed in this shooting you are all discussing….
Here in Michigan praying for the family of Erv and his fellow police heros that risked their lives to save others…
Included in my prayers are the citizens.. Black or White…we all have a heart and breath the same air which makes us nothing more or less than neighbors.

For your information everyone, I’m basically a Police Officer. I have Peace Officer Orientation II training under PC 832(a) Laws of Arrest. They train us, the (Police) not to pull over citizens unless you have a valid reason, and it’s more then just a simple suspicion.
You need prabable cause with other elements to pull folks over, such as witnessing a serious safety hazard before you go invade on a citizens rights. Now there are to many Police out there, that are pulling folks over for no reason at all (You Know who you are). I was always taught, don’t look for trouble, because trouble will fine you.
They got busted on, because they failed to follow correct procedures, that was the risk those Officers took. What they did was no different then sticking there dam hands into someones pocket for no reason, and finding drugs or even cut off fingers afterwards.
It’s call “fruit of the posiounus tree”, which means evidence dosen’t matter, without having prabable reason for stopping someone. If “Mixion” was on Parole fine, but they gave no reason for pulling him over in the first place! It was prabably the cool wheels on his car, the Buick he was in, and his black skin.
Furthermore, I have witnesses to many wrongful killings by the Police against minorities, involving deadly force, when only grabbing and control was enough. Yeah… there are to many little officers out there, that were bullied in High school, that are quick to pull out their gun or baton, just because someone is bigger then them or black!
Police need to start respecting the citizens, or else this is the kind of crap were going to get in return. I understand the sufferrings that black people have gone through, they have been oppressed for generations, and treated like terrorist right in their own USA country.
I think what Mixion did was a good thing, and when I’m on the streets, I’ll be sure not to harass people, but protect people who are really in need of help. Officers, stop looking for trouble, where there is no trouble!

To Robert, If the Police keep using deadly force upon unarmed victims like Grant, then I believe the Public has the right to defend themselves against the powers that be, as a protector of the Public, I’m speaking against bad Cops.

2) Robert’s post from March 31st shows the history of how Mixon was checked in on per his parole, and how he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. The police could technically pull him over for that. Parole violations are again…breaking the law.

Mixon should be praised because not only did he reduce the payroll, saving taxpayer dollars, of the Oakland Police Force, but he caused much mental pain and damage to the families of those officers. It serves them right. And the Oakland police will always know that a black man did that to them. This is a proud moment.
Mixon had the undeniable right not to want to go back to prison being on parole. So what if he was a felon? He had the right to shoot first and to waste those cops, didn’t he? If he were still alive, he would have killed many more cops too to do the black community a favor.
Blacks don’t need cops at all. Of course, if all the cops were wasted, then black-on-black crime would tend to increase, but that’s ok. Gangs and our other beloved criminals would tend to be in charge of our neighborhoods, but that’s ok. We black people only look at cop-on-black or white-on-black crimes as outrages. We are not concerned with black-on-black crime.
That is why we were not outraged by a Blackkk Muslim shooting unarmed black editor Chauncey Bailey to death in Oakland in 2007. Bailey got what he deserved because he had the nerve to expose an organization that was working against his black community.
That Blackkk Muslim did us a service. Blacks, like those in gangs, should be allowed to work against their own community in peace, without any cops around.

There was no prior radio call in or reason why the officers pulled Mixion over, where is their report to headquaters? Your suppose to call in when you do a traffic stop, usually when there is no radio call in, discrimination or some kind of uncivil treatment could happen. A Police officer is always supose to call in when he/or she makes a stop, up to this point, there is no radio report.
For all you know, the officers could have called him a nigger, and reached for their gun. Pulling out my weapon, is the very last thing on my mind, I fully check out a situation without overracting.
Yes, Police officers have a wide range of the law when they feel there life is in danger, but they must follow department procedures first. I’m sure they broke department procedure by not calling in there stop, that mistake could have be the reason why they got killed.
Perhaps if they had called in, they could have got more information about Mixion, that could have prevented their deaths. Gathering Intelligence is very important in being a professtional officer, lacking information, can get you killed.

Actually I was not praising Mixon. I was showing how praising him could be taken to a logical conclusion. If there were no cops around, black criminals and gangs would be free to terrorize their own people unfettered. And that does not seem to bother Shawny. He ignores that fact and makes his imaginations on what the cops were thinking as actual facts. He is making excuses for a murderer who was not defending himself, nor defending his community. To say that Mixon did a “service” by killing 4 cops because of the desire not to go back to prison is rather absurd. He was not a “freedom fighter.”
It is also absurd that if Mixon killed 4 other blacks, there would be no outrage at all. Black on black crime is routinely tolerated, even if it is murder. And there would be no marches, no demonstrations, and no outrage. He would have been an ordinary black “criminal” and something else to talk about in the neighborhood. Then he would have been forgotten.
But because he killed 4 cops, he is a “hero” and a martyr and deserves a memorial.

If you want to get racial about things, since when is the last time you heard a black Cop shoot some white guy in his back on the ground? I’ll go as far as to say, black Police Officers are very restrained under pressure, 95% less likely to use deadly force, because we just don’t want to kill no one if possible. Most blacks are not trigger happy on the force.
Don’t get me wrong, Black Cops will ruff you up to get you under control, and perhaps even pepper spray you, but the gun stays in the Hostler. Most black Cops ain’t gonna shoot you, unless we see the dam gun in our face, or someone else face.

I am glad I still live in a state that cares for its law dogs. That respects the badge and shield and understands what it means to hold the position and title of OFFICER. I am so sorry for Oakland’s loss but your loss is not in vain. I am honored I can call your officers brothers and sisters.
As far as you Shawny- I respect your freedom of speech but lest ye forget why you have that freedom. It is because of brave men and women who put on a uniform, place a shield on their chest, and prepare for battle that you have that right. You may think that it is the military that gave you that right and you are correct but while they are at twelve o’clock, I have got their six. If it is true you have the training you have you need to train some more. PC is not always the standard. There is this thing called “Reasonable Suspicion.” Then there is the fact that probationers and parolees loose all 4th Amendment Rights and can be stopped and searched by any law enforcement officers in the course of his or her duties. These four GREAT officers died protecting your six and are ridiculed for it. I hope and pray you never need an officer’s assistance.

It’s sad that five people were killed. Now what needs to be looked at is if the dead Officers were following departmental policies when they stopped Mixion, and then stormed the apartment. Did the Officers call into department there reasons for stopping Mixion?
You have to have a legal reason to stop people, so as not to violate there 14 Amendmant. Apparently, there was not a report to headquaters for stopping Mixion, not even a broken tail light report, a basic fundemantal “prabable cause” to stop Mixion.
If the Officers had called in before the stop, they could’ve been informed by headquaters that Mixion was a parole violator if they had reported in his license plates. They could have been informed that Mixion was in prision for assualt with deadly weapon, and a parole violator. A back up patrol car could’ve been dispatched for possible shield protection.
The Police department said, there was no communication from the Officers for the reason for stopping Mixion. Who knows what really happened, they could’ve called Mixion a nigger, and reached for their guns.
Officers have a wide range of movement within the law, but departmental policy narrows what Police Officers can do under the color of law. These policies and procedures protect Officers and citizens from possible death, and to prevent reckless and emotional conduct by the Officers.
Many times Police Officers do things that the law allows them, but then they are terminated by there department for not following the rules and regulations regarding weapons, conduct, or reporting. That Police department should not be responsible for paying those Officers families money for there reckless death, if the Officers failed to follow the department rules regarding reporting a basic traffic stop.
Officer death, Reckless conduct, and damage can be prevented if the department rules are followed! The rules are to protect the safety of the Police, and others in the event of certain situations. I personally would have communicated to the staff sergeant in charge a basic traffic stop, and to gather as much intelligence on my suspect before approaching the suspect. It’s a thorn in your side to follow the department rules, but it could save your dam life!
I just think the Officers where lazy, and didn’t want to do the paper work by reporting in their stop. You have to have many elements in order to establish “Reasonable Suspicion”, and you must have a prior crime that happened in the area as a plus.
As an example, lets say a store and a car were broken into a week ago on “43 street, and items were stole. I’m patrolling 43 street at 2:00a.m. and notice a man warring black cloths, a dark cap, and has a black sports bag in his hand. First, most crimes are commited at night, or in the early morning when people are asleep.
I would report a suspicious person to headquaters, and give the department a detailed description of the suspect. I would approach the suspect with my partner, and ask the suspect where he lives, and where he’s going 2:00am in the morning. I would tell the suspect that there was a burglary in the area, and if he heard anything about it. I would ask the suspect for his ID card, and call headquaters for information on the suspect, while having my partner stay with the suspect.
If the suspect told me to fuck off, and kept walking, then it’s your call. You can either let him go or detain him temporarly. I would prabably detain him a few mintues, until I checked his ID to see if he committed a crime, or is wanted for something.
I would do a full body search of the suspect by flash light and eye ball sight only, and ask him if he has any weapons. If I got nothing, then let him go on his way.

What I ment by posting the above was, you must have a reason for stopping people, so as not to violate their 14 Amendments. Those Officers could be living today, if they had only reported in, gathered information on their suspect, and followed department rules.
Funny how the other Officers just recklessly stormed the apartment building resulting in more deaths, it seems all to much like suspicious racist motive to me.

As far as putting out that they were on a stop to dispatch might have saved their lives you are a complete idiot. If you really must know it is the “4th Amendment” otherwise known as “Search and Seizure” that governs what we here are talking about. The other things that govern traffic stops are Supreme Court Rulings on matters involving the 4th Amendment. The other Amendments consist of things that normally do not effect traffic stops.
As far as police procedures are concerned you have no idea how they operate. An officer generally does not radio the reason for the stop. It takes too much time and is unecessary radio traffic for the most part.
The license plate will not give you a criminal history on the registered owner of the vehicle and most states do not have driver’s license numbers attached to the registration.
Probable Cause is not always the standard. Reasonable suspicion will allow officers to conduct “Investigatory” stops if the officer can articulate the reason in court. I personally stay away from Reasonable Suspicion but every once in a while there is a need.
You scream “racism” and “profiling” but you stated yourself, “What really did happen on that stop, we will never know…” You are so correct. We will never know because that murderous Mixon silenced the truth.
You say the officers were “crooked” implying they have no credibility. Where’s Mixon’s credibility?
Some people think we would be better off without law enforcement. Human civilization already tried that. In fact we tried it three times. The first time was called the “Ice Ages.” The second time was called “The Dark Ages.” Neither era worked too well for the human race. What would happen if lall aw enforcement went on vacation for one week? Do you really think the public would get along? The third time was during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Oh yea and another thing Shawny- Were you in the dispatch center when Dunakin checked out on the stop? Have you heard the dispatch tapes? Usually dispatch tapes do not get out into the public because of “Rules of Evidence.” But I bet you already knew that considering your vast knowledge of law.
Oh yea. Another thing. Obviously you have never served in the military or on a tactical response team, such as SWAT, CERT, or ERT. So you have no idea how teams work and operate. So again, do not speak on things you do not know how.
These men did there jobs. Given they possibly made mistakes but does that make what Mixon did right? Because they may made a mistake does that make it right for you or any other individual to “Arm Chair Quarteback” when you weren’t there or in the minds of those officers or in Mixon’s for that matter? People have been saying it was because of the turmoil between citizens and police that caused Mixon to murder those officers. But we do know that Mixon was wanted for a parole violation. He was under investigation for the rape of a 12 year old girl. He had previously been investigated for a homicide. He had served time. I don’t know about you but it sounds like enough motive to me.

Court is not a matter of whose right or whose wrong, its a matter of who has the best attorney and plays the game better.

I do understand why a lot of blacks commit black on black crime from my experience growing up in the hood. It is misplaced frustration directed at hating there own people out of survival and desparation. The crimes of blacks in poverty but not all, is based upon mainly upon white oppression, unfair hiring practices, and poverty.
It was the same methods used by the sadistic Nazis against the Jews in the ghettos, and by using their own people to commit atrocities by putting them in a position of charge to abuse there own people. Mixion just woke up, and he tunred his angry towards the real villian and Satan who has been oppressing for 500 years, what Mixion did was no different then a masters slave revolting and killing the slave master and his house hold.

There’s a difference between the Nazi’s and police. Nazi’s killed Jews because they were JEWS! police just don’t kill blacks because they are BLACK! If that was the case there we would be in a civil war.
You talk about Mixon killing “VILLIANS and SATAN.” How quickly you have forgotten that Mixon was a WANTED FELON and was being investigated for tha RAPE of a 12 YEAR OLD GIRL!
If you were a cop and only took the stance that you’d shoot someone ONLY if they had a firearm, your name would end up on the memorial wall. If you think someone can’t kill you with a pen, you’re blind. What do you think the Martial Arts, Military, and other combat arts teach? Someone could kill you faster with a pen than with a gun.
As far as “unfair hiring practices.” You have no idea what it takes to be hired. Not as if you could pass. Just look at your last paragraph. Basically you said “If I wasn’t a police officer (implying you are one) you’d buy an AR-15 because you fear for your life.” HUH? Okay?!?

No, this post just isn’t worth my time making grammar corrections. Believe me, I’ve seen Officer reports worse then my typing. You can be in denial all you want about racist Police, and thats where your never going to see the problems and correct it. This crap has been building up for to long in poverty stricken communities, where Police brutality is becomming untolerable.
I already passed my Police test for your information, and recieved my certificates. It dosen’t take a rocket scientist to pass a Police test, but it’s important for people in this field to be polite, have self control, be understanding, mild tempered, fair, and just. Thats what the Police force is missing, maybe we should just fire all the dam men, and replace them with women.
I would of been more sad for the officers if they had reported the traffic stop in, but they didn’t, they took it upon themselves to violate someone 14 Amendment. All motorcycle Cops are required to call in a traffic stop, not their buddies first instead of headquaters.
All they had to do was make the simple radio report to headquaters, gather intelligence, call a back up car after they had found out Mixion was in jail for assualt with a deadly weapon, and was a parole violater.
If it was me, I would have followed behind Mixion, made a radio report to headquaters, gather intelligence on Mixion, set up a sniper squad down the street by another Officer when stopping Mixion, and talked Mixion out of his car, and hopefully Mixion wouldn’t have pulled out a weapon.
There’s no telling what the hell those Officers did by not reporting in, they may have aggravated Mixion, could have called him a nigger, reached for their gun, and then Mixion blew their back out. He seemed to be pretty dam desparate! What the hell did those Officers do, I don’t give a shit if Mixion was in jail for having weapons. Furthermore, Mixion wasn’t a dam rapist.
I don’t feel sorry for those veteran Officers, they got lazy and Royally fucked up! And there department should use them as an example for other Officers to report in and follow department Policies, stop making traffic stops without reporting and gathering intelligence on your suspect.

Stopping a civilian without having a reason and not making a report to headquaters consist of, racial profiling, 14 Amendment violations, discrimination, and working bad business under the color of law. You are to gather intelligence on your suspect before stopping them, not after you stop the suspect. It’s just the same as seeing a suspicious individual, jamming your fingers in his pants, and finding drugs. The evidence found is bad, without having a legal reason to stop someone.
The Mixion case was no different, I don’t feel that sad for the Officers.

I don’t feel bad for the officers either. I am among this nations disenfranchised ex-offender population. I know what it’s like to no longer feel apart of society due to it’s unwillingness to accept me after I’ve served my time. Those officers and their families are paying this nation’s price for treating convicted felons like pariahs. I don’t know how much more rejection I can take either. No mercy for sexual predators, police, corrections officers, police, judges, lawyers, snitches, etc; It’s not like they give a damn about me. Mixion seems to have become America’s nightmare and if that’s the case America might not want to go back to sleep.

To nderivera, I know the system sucks, it’s wrong for society and employers to continue to punish you for the mistakes you made in your pass, and it’s forcing you to repeat crimes you paid for.
I just hope that someone will give you a break, and stop denying you life, liberty, and the pursue of happiness. The system just drives you back into crime, my advice is that you leave America, you might be able to find work in another country, the risk in America is to force you back into crime to survive.
Good luck. I think Obama should come out for a work program for ex-criminals, perhaps a Federal work section, where you might work hard, but you can make a decent living and have some self respect, without being denied your lively hood.

A sexual child predator needs deep and long term couseling, and cannot be left in society without being monitored. A sex predator has mental problems, perhaps because they were molested when they were kids. No DNA evidence yet was brought forth to prove that Mixion indeed raped a young girl.
I do know that Mixion was a married young kid. It’s just defamation of charactor the system is doing, trying to take away public support for Mixion. The system likes to destroy young blacks reputation and future, so that they can’t get a job, it’s just another form of racism and forcing them into crime. Certain evil people are good at killing a persons reputation with lies.
I don’t believe Mixion was a rapist, until they come out with DNA evidence, and the name of the girl he raped. Just Bullshit.
