As you can see by the cover of the upcoming People magazine, Clay Aiken is finally comes out as being gay. After enduring years of bad late night show jokes, the American Idol star now says “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things”.
Lindsay Lohen has also officially announced her relationship with DJ Samantha.
I normally don’t post much about celebrity gossip here but while browsing Perez tonight I found these announcements. Among several other horrible things I won’t mention here. The vertical of celebrity gossip is of course always tempting for web traffics sake. For example (or as a test), I imagine this post will get more hits than anything else this month.

I’m shocked. Who next, Richard Simmons?
We real gays resent those celebrity gays and their celebrity lifestyles. We real gays can’t afford lifestyles. We can barely afford lives, like so many others. We’re real people, the trailer trash of the gay world. But we were gay before gay was OK. We had to sleep with a couple hundred anonymous men before we got invited to our first upscale party. We didn’t have cocaine, we bought poppers, by the case. It wasn’t easy being a queer in those days, and for present day real gay teens it probably hasn’t gotten much easier. But we stuck it out (as often as possible) and fought the early wars. We were wounded, mostly in our egos. We’ve aged, and instead of being celebrated as the pioneers real gays were, our contribution has been pushed aside by all the attention on a teen idol. How humiliating.
Well, screw you, Clay. I mean that sincerely. I’m mean, if you’re ever in town. I’m up for it if you are. Hell, let’s face it, celebrity or not, you’re cute.

Huh? Please don’t interpret this wrong but equating homosexuality to some kind of brave revolutionary in a war seems like a stretch to me, and an offensive one at that. When soldiers are “wounded”, the premise is that they are wounded for the common good; they are sacrificing for the good of other people. When people have sex, the beneficiaries of their sex act are nobody but themselves.
