And Now…Deep Twits, by Fail Whale

July 5th, 2008
By: Sean Percival

Some nights you just come up with some strange ideas, the above for example.  I guess I just figured Fail Whale should finally get a voice. That voice of course should be monotone, and with just the right amount of twisted snark. Based on the work of Jack Handey, I give you Deep Twits by Fail Whale

Enjoy!

The Fail Whale illustration was created by Yiying Lu, the Biz & Ev photo from Mai Le. The voice and crude video editing is yours truly.

If you guys like this let me know, I have a few other Deep Twits already in mind.

Huh. I like the timbre of the voice, it should be soft and deep. But I think although the whale is peace-loving (as seen by his shy smile) he is also playful as can be seen by his companionship with extraordinarily strong birds who raise him up out of the ocean depths to misadventures in the sky.

There’s got to be a paper in all of this somewhere.

OMG. I love it. A Fail Whale party in LA is an imminent possibility. I say everyone make some art related to Fail Whale and we can tack it up. Insta-art gallery via real-time UGC. HAHA. I am such a geek.

I also picture a fail whale making a sad kind of eyeore/ debbie downer type of exhale that says “faaaiill whaaallleee) with a downward intonation on “whale.” I bet you could pull that one of pretty good too.

…except that the Fail Whale wouldn’t talk about himself in the 3rd person. And I hope that he knows more words that “Fail”. I see him as a Burl Ives-Snowman-like figure (see “Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer”).

Oh, man, see what too much coffee can lead to? That’s a warning to all of you kids! Don’t drink too much espresso in the morning or you’ll hear whales talking to you.
