A.P., You Seem S L O W

I'm catching up on the latest news over the fair use issues with the Associated Press. Seems they don't want bloggers pulling quotes or text snippets. Hey cool, here is a quote from A.P. about the issue of quoting.(said in a meta like voice)

"to define clear standards as to how much of its articles and broadcasts bloggers and Web sites can excerpt without infringing on The A.P.’s copyright.”

I'm sure that standards document will be a thrilling read. In the areas of fair use, my thoughts tend to lean to extreme side (in regards to usage). I agree with Mike's post, that A.P. is trying to protect a dying model of paid content. If this is the case, this policy feels like a step in the completely wrong direction.
